Course Description: This course is designed to provide participants with a strong understanding of the commercial provisions of the energy code with emphasis on plan review and inspections/enforcement. Participants will also gain practical knowledge during the exercises as to “the whys” of some of the provisions and appreciate the challenges the code brings to real world examples.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, attendees will:
1. Understand the major changes between the Energy Conservation Construction Code of 2013 and the Energy Conservation and Construction Code of 2010 for commercial buildings,
2. Be able to use the ECCC 2013 to resolve questions and issues that arise during plan review, field inspection, and in addressing questions posed by contractors, design professionals, etc., and
3. Recognize the relationship between Energy Code provisions and best building practices – “the whys” behind the ECCC NYS code provisions for commercial buildings.
